WLOF Memories of
"The Sixties"

If The Saturday Ramble, Revive 45s, Happy Hitparaders, Harvey, twin tone time, Charlie the Channel 95 Girl, a Rebound Sound, The Weird Beard, or Peter Jay played a part in your past then you will find some memories on this page that many of Orlando's "baby boomers" share. If you were a listener back in the Sixties then you know that there was magic in Central Florida before Disney or Orlando's NBA Team. WLOF was a typical yet exceptionally individual AM rock radio station of the 1960s. WLOF fought an interesting battle with WHOO, Orlando's other AM rock station of the period. The battle started about 40 years ago.
The page is made up of my personal photo and memorabilia collection from the era which explains why I show up so much. I put it together mostly as a substitute for a WLOF reunion which never seemed would happen. I think everyone who listened has memories to be jogged here and those who enjoy broadcasting memories in general (even if you never heard the station) will find something of interest also.
Many of the Photographs were taken by official station photographer, John Malarkey. I took most of the rest and a few are unknowns. I hope to locate more.
By all means, send me comments, corrections or if you have more material for the page, let me know.
